1967 was an extraordinary year for Victoria Nixon. Spotted in London's Bond Street by none other than Helmut Newton, who photographed her for Vogue, she was soon travelling the world with a paid-for smile, earning a fortune and hanging out with the era's legendary figures, from Andy Warhol and The Beach Boys to Salvador Dali and the Shah of Iran. But this glamorous dream came to a sudden end when Victoria's brother took his own life in her New York apartment, echoing their father's suicide ten years earlier, and her mother passed away shortly afterwards. Victoria was alone, struggling to fake those smiles in the face of bewildering grief. She had to make her own rules for survival.
